Bangalore Breakdown

DiaryBangalore Breakdown’s Diary is a superb world-jazz-fusion recording. The influences of the globe are channeled through the talents of musicians who hail from America, Switzerland, India, Cameroon and Russia. Most dominant are the sounds and influences of Western jazz, Indian classical music and African rhythms. The band is co-lead by reed player Premik Russell Tubbs and keyboardist Uli Geissendoerfer. The two share a common interest in jazz and Indian classical music. Geissendoerfer also loves Latin rhythms. The band uses the disparate experiences of all of its citizens to create a mix that will have you rocking back and forth to such upbeat tunes as “Song” and have you deep in cosmic reflection on the meditative “Mukti.” Listening to this music will have you believing in the possibility of world peace. Ah, if were only so easy… –Walter Kolosky

Musicians: Premik Russell Tubbs -bansuri flute, soprano saxophone, synthesizsers; Uli Geissendoerfer -keyboards; Gino Sitson -vocals and body percussion; Steve Sandberg -vocals and wind synthesizer; Mathias Kunzli –percussion; Dibyarka Chatterjee –tabla; Nathan Peck –bass; Naren Budhakar –percussion; Beat Kaestli -vocals; Ljova Zhurbin –viola; Todd Isler -drums
